报告摘要:
In standard quantum optics, the (artificial) atom is usually treated as a point-like model and locally coupled to the photon/phonon modes. In recent years, however, the artificial atoms realized in the lab can be much larger than the wavelength of photon/phonon modes. This scenario has been implemented with superconducting qubits coupled to surface acoustic waves [1,2] or to meandering microwave transmission lines [3]. These large artificial quantum systems, which are called giant atoms, can be coupled to the resonator/waveguide in a non-local fashion via multiple coupling points. In this talk, I will introduce the recent developments in giant atoms and related study in quantum optics. Especially, I will discuss the highly non-Markovian dynamics of giant atom due to the deterministic time delays among the coupling points [2,4]. The nonMarkovianity gives rise to many novel phenomena, e.g., the oscillating bound states [5], which do not exist for small atoms.
